Rated 5 out of 5 by The Latel Life Biker from CAREFUL of the TUB TOP LIP size DreamLine builds a fine product and provides excellent guidance on installation. Read the literature and BELIEVE it. The note which reads "Minimum threshold depth of 2 ¾” is required for proper installation" is NOT simply a suggestion. It refers to the top surface of the tub wall that you step over to get into the tub. It is the surface of tub wall on which the sliding doors "appear" to rest. (They don't rest there; they hang from the top rail.) The "threshold depth" is the width or thickness of that wall, and it MUST be sufficient to allow the bypass doors to bypass one another in the divider piece that guides them. That divider piece is ATTACHED to the tub wall's TOP surface in a specific location along the run of the doors. On many modern bathtubs that top surface (the "threshold") is nice and wide on each END but tapers significantly in the middle. It MUST remain the minimum 2 ¾” wide AT THE CENTER for the divider piece to guide the doors properly. I was able to jury rig mine, but I will never be completely happy with it. MY FAULT. The DreamLine doors are marvelous.

The essence and the essence H are discontinued in brushed nickel. Is there another fully by-pass dreamline door? Also, is it possible to get a by-pass tub door that will cover a 66" opening?

The Encore would be a bypass door that I would recommend that is available in Brushed Nickel. I am considering the DreamLine SHDR-636060H-01. Stated width is 56-60". My opening is 55". Can this item be used in a 55" opening? I realize the overlap will be more and the opening less. If not, help me understand why not. Thanks.
Thank you for reaching out to DreamLine. You can adjust the door down to 55" but, as you are aware, your walk through will be less and the overlap will be more. The door will function exactly the same way, however. The Essence is a beautiful shower door and will look stunning in your bath.

My tub measures 83 1/2 H X 56 W at bottom and 55 3/4 at the highest point, so not exactly plumb. Will the Essence H work as it states its not for out of plumb builds. Thank you.

The width can be adjusted down to the 55-3/4, but please be aware that your walk through opening will be a tad smaller and the overlap of the panels will be a tad greater.

Do you have this style but with vertical handles on both doors?
