Essence Sliding Shower Door is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Modern Design; Disappointing Material Quality Really like the brushed nickel frameless design. However, the materials and sturdiness of doors is disappointing. The bottom track brackets are made of plastic. The vertical frames utilize a flimsy vinyl strip to keep water splash in. The doors squeak when opening and closing. The towel bars are made of hollow aluminum and not a solid bar and the finish shows smudges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t shy away from this product The delivery proved to be efficient and the product intact. All components were labeled and corresponded with the enclosed inventory list provided in the instructions. As a builder for over 40 years I found the instructions intuitive and complete. The import for installing this product plumb and aligned with specs can’t be stressed enough. Having done so the operation of the doors is first class. I would only recommend this installation to be performed by an accomplished professional or a seasoned DIY who has a strong grasp on how to lay-out measurements. The step by step instructions will provide a thorough and linear progression towards a clean and efficiently operating product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from beautiful but flawed This door is gorgeous and just what we wanted. However, there is a HUGE gap between the panes that allows water to escape if water stream hits doors. Even worse the low profile metal strip at the bottom... terrible design. The tolerance of the receiver is extremely small, with no adjustment so if they are off even 1/16" the doors will hit the receivers and have to flex to close. But the worst part is the tiny metal strip on the bottom has NO weatherstrip which allows water to literally splash out right under the door. And if the stream of water hits the door the water just flows up and over the sill. Its ironic that they provide very effective weatherstrip for the sides, but none for the bottom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Shower Doors We just recently needed new shower doors for our Master Bathroom and I was recommended by a friend to check our Dreamline and I am very happy that I did. I actually had someone come out and install my shower doors and they had no issue with the instructions as some have stated. The gentleman that installed our doors however insured us that he does this quite often so I think this is why he was able to install with ease. Reading other reviews I was nervous of the finish and the plastic pieces that everyone was mentioning prior to me purchasing the doors, but once installed and seeing them up I think the shower doors are perfect! They do not look plastic to me nor feel cheap at all, I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I have had this shower door installed for about a month, and I really like it. The width of mine is between 56" and 60" - formerly a standard tub. The overall look is sleek, the materials have a very high quality appearance and the doors work well for me so far, and I feel that it will last well. I had a contractor install the door, which was definitely the right thing to do for me. After he was finished I got excellent help from the technical support people at Dreamline on a follow-up that I needed. I felt the price was very reasonable. Overall, very thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and awesome door I ordered this door and let me say i am extremely happy with the quality, look and finish. I get many compliments about how good it looks. Make sure that you read and understand the instructions before you start your installation if you are doing it yourself. This model requires you to drill into the shower base so if you have a metal shower base like i have you need to use an alternative installation method that want void your warranty. My shower base manufacture recommended that i use silicon adhesive. The results are beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice , but instructions are off [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its everything they say , very nice , but the instructions are off a little , but its not a big deal , example -- they tell you to measure from the threshold 71 1/8 , but they say that after you put in the bottom bracket , so then you have to do a angled measurement . Also the top rail , they say to measure opening and take off 1/4 inch , i had to take off a least 3/8 in. , and other people stated the same in the reviews. But its all good anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great improvement to our bathroom I bought this Essence shower door set from Home Depot and am extremely pleased with how the project turned out. I read the manual several times before installing the doors myself. I made sure all my measurements were precise (a must) and that my walls were plumb. My shower base was slightly off-level and I thought that might cause a problem, but the guide blocks do their job and hold the doors in place. Since I had studs behind the wall brackets I didn't have to use the wall anchors, so I am confident that the brackets will hold the weight of the doors, which are over 100 lbs. I would prefer that the door adjustment discs allowed for larger adjustments than they do, to accommodate slight irregularities in wall construction, but all in all this was a great project with a very successful outcome.

I see the glass height is 76" but no where does it indicate what the clearance height under the sliding rail. I'm 6'1 and trying to figure out if I will bump my head when walking in?

Asked by: ricosuave
The clearance beneath the rail is approximately 71", so if you are 6'1", you will probably have to duck a little bit under the rail. What is the difference between the DreamLine - Essence Sliding Shower Door, and the DreamLine - Essence Sliding Shower Door H model?

Asked by: Lattidah
The main differences between these models are cosmetic differences. The Essence is a more frameless model with very thin aluminum strips that install on your vertical walls that the glass doors will basically "hide" behind. The Essence also has 3 guide blocks that must be fastened to your threshold with screws. The Essence-H uses much wider wall channels with bumpers installed that the doors will close into. The Essence-H only has 1 guide block that must be fastened to your threshold with screws. Aside from these cosmetic differences, these models are the same in every other way. How many inches should the gap be between the top of the door and ceiling.

Asked by: msadiku
DreamLine shower doors are not designed or intended for steam showers, so you will want to leave a gap at the top that is at least as wide as what your local building codes require. Please double check with your local code office to find out what the requirement is - usually it is between 4" and 6". The video shows both doors moving simultaneously.  Do you ever get a full panel opening? Since this door requires a 2.75 threshold, does the Dreamline base have a slope or is it flat?

Asked by: Lisa53
For the Essence, both doors move independently. You can slide the outer door all the way to the left or right and you can do the same with the inner door. Both doors can be pushed all the way to one side so that you have a full opening and this is typically what people will do when they enter the shower. You are correct - this shower door requires 2-3/4" threshold space to be able to install the bottom rail and guide blocks. DreamLine shower bases, like most bases on the market, have a gentle slope (approximately 5-degrees) on the curb so that any water that lands on the curb will run back in towards the drain.
