we purchased the ESSENCE shower/tub door. The install instructions on fig 2 say "W1 - 1/4" and "W2 - 1/16" what does that mean?
Asked by: tara
Great question! W1 is the measurement at the top of your shower opening and W2 is the measurement of the width across the threshold. It is possible that they may be different. Your measurement across the top may be 60" (W1) and the bottom measurement may be 59.75 (W2). As it states on Page 6 of the manual you will need to subtract 1/4" from W1 to bet your length for the top of your opening. Subtract 1/6" from W2 to get your bottom rail measurement. Hope this helps. My installer tells me I have a "porcelain covered cast iron tub." And that drilling into my tub may cause it to split and he is encouraging me to NOT buy this tub. Will drilling into my tub cause it to split, crack or other damage?
Asked by: Lee Ann
I also have a cast iron tub. I recently purchased this tub/shower door and had it successfully installed. Yes, my installer (professional) did comment that my tub was cast iron (porcelain coated) but he did not warn against drilling into it. It is beautiful and it was perfect for the small guest bathroom. Really opened up the room. The only issue my installer had was the fasteners that came with the product were too flimsy for my cast iron tub and for the tile walls so he did go to a local hardware store and purchase stronger ones. And they aren't kidding in the product description when they say there is no adjustment for out of plumb walls. I have an older home and guess what, the walls aren't plumb! But still, he was able to install it and there is just a little bump when closing one of the doors. I had some issues with packaging and with a scratched part but the supplier was terrific and took care of my issues immediately.

Great question. Unfortunately, DreamLine does not sell direct to the consumer so we can not provide pricing at this time. You are welcome to click on the Where To Buy link at the top of the web page, put in your zip code and retailers in your area will come up. You may also put the model number in your internet browser and retailers that sell that shower door will come up. At that point you can compare pricing.
